Energy 101
Why do energy drinks make you crash?
You know the cycle. You crack a can, feel great for an hour, and then the wall hits — heavy eyelids, foggy head, worse than before you drank it. That's not bad luck. It's built into how most energy drinks are made.
The spike is the problem
Most mainstream energy drinks deliver a large hit of synthetic caffeine alongside a serious dose of sugar. Both hit your bloodstream fast. Blood sugar spikes, adrenaline spikes — and what spikes fast falls fast. The "crash" is your body over-correcting on the way down.
- Sugar crash: a big sugar load triggers an insulin response that can drop blood glucose below where you started.
- Caffeine cliff: a rapid caffeine peak wears off unevenly, unmasking the adenosine (sleep-pressure chemical) that built up behind it.
- Jitters tax: harsh spikes push some people into anxious, wired territory first — which makes the fall feel even steeper.
How to get energy without the cliff
The fix isn't less energy — it's a smoother curve. Three things matter:
- Moderate, natural caffeine. Around 150mg (about a strong coffee and a half) from green coffee beans supports alertness without maxing out your tolerance in one hit.
- L-theanine alongside it. This amino acid from green tea is widely paired with caffeine to support calm, focused attention — smoothing the edges of the lift.
- Skip the sugar bomb. Low sugar means there's no glucose rollercoaster underneath your caffeine curve.
How Boom Stack+ does it: 150mg natural green-coffee caffeine balanced 1:1 with 150mg L-theanine, ~4g sugar, and electrolytes to keep you level. Clean lift, no cliff.
